Our treatment process

There are 4 main steps in an evolve treatment:

1. Diagnosing the problem

Firstly, your evolve practitioner will talk to you about what might be bothering you, and possibly check you pulse, blood pressure and/or the colour and texture of your tongue.

2. Preparing for the treatment

Your evolve practitioner will leave the room and ask you to remove any clothing that may obstruct the treatment. Towels will be provided to ensure your privacy and comfort.

3. The treatment itself

Your evolve practitioner will then return with a treatment strategy specifically designed for your individual condition. Your practitioner may also incorporate a variety of other techniques to ensure you are getting the best possible treatment.

4. Your treatment plan

After the treatment, your evolve practitioner will talk to you about what can happen next. An effective treatment plan may require more than one consultation to ensure your symptoms abate and do not return. Your practitioner will discuss your best options and respect your right to decide on further action.

Please tell us how you feel

If, at any time during the consultation, you do feel discomfort for any reason then please advise your practitioner. We are here to provide you with the best possible treatment and your feedback is greatly valued.

Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese technique using needles to stimulate the nerves and hormones to treat a problem in the body.

These days we use needles that are sterile and disposable, but are different from needles used for injections. Being smaller in diameter and not hollow, the acupuncture needle creates significantly less (if any) sensation.

Acupuncture is much more likely to benefit your health than create any side effects, and can be used for a wide range of health conditions.

How we work with needles

The insertion of the needle is quick and generally painless. Between 6 to 12 needles will generally be used per side. Your practitioner may decide to treat one or both sides of the body depending on your condition.

With your permission, your practitioner may leave the room. This allows you some time to relax and the treatment to have a greater affect. The needles are often left in for between 15 and 25 minutes.

Massage

What is massage?

Massage is the manipulation of the body's soft tissues to correct areas of tension.

Massage can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions including:

  • body pain
  • sports injuries
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • stress
  • slow digestion
  • cramps

The type massage we practice

We practice deep tissue/remedial massage, which is more therapeutic based, rather than relaxation massage.

At evolve, we may use a variety of techniques, including:

  • kneading
  • tapping or percussion (tapotement)
  • stretching and pressure on tight areas
  • circular motion (effleurage)

Your practitioner may use various parts of their body such as: fingers, thumbs, forearms and wrists to enable adequate pressure to be applied ensuring a positive result.

Oil is used to enable a smooth fluid progression through the areas being addressed. Liniments may also be applied to heat or cool an area encouraging a greater circulation to the area.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

The use of Chinese herbs (incorporating herbal extracts) has documented and proven benefits to numerous health conditions over thousands of years.

The herbs we use

Most of the herbs we use at evolve have been prepared in China and are stringently tested on a regular basis to ensure they meet the Australian Therapeutic Goods Authority standards. Claims of therapeutic benefit related to any supplements are supported by evidence from clinical trials.

The herbs come in tablet, capsule or powder form, and need to be consumed several times during the day for a designated period for the desired effect.

How we dispense herbs

Your practitioner will assess your condition through a variety of diagnostic tools and a specific formula will be chosen to treat your condition.

Your formula may need to be adjusted as your body begins to heal, ensuring that it is directly relevant to your current state of health.

Diet/nutrition advice & support

In the course of treatment, additional factors - such as diet - might be relevant and helpful in improving your current health outside of treatment. This can include minor adjustments to your current eating habits or, depending on your condition, require an extensive program.

Some nutritional issues are difficult to solve with diet alone, so nutritional supplements might be recommended by your evolve practitioner.

Exercise & lifestyle advice

Our practitioners are qualified to design an additional exercise program that may help to further improve any musculoskeletal issues you may have.

We can help with a number of ways to achieve your optimum health, including: meditation, stretching and strengthening, healthy habits and how to get there.
